Sometimes the best business ideas come from solving your own problems first – Here’s our story!

UNDERSTANDING THE STRUGGLE

From One Overwhelmed Family to Yours

Hi, I’m Deryck Wills, founder of Wash Collective and dad to two kids who seem to generate an impossible amount of dirty clothes.

Two years ago, my wife hit burnout. She was juggling full-time work, managing our household whilst I worked in the city in the week, and trying to keep up with the endless cycle of washing, drying, and folding. Something had to give, so I took over the laundry duties.

Let me tell you – I had no idea.

It wasn’t just the washing. It was remembering which clothes needed special care, making sure school uniforms were ready for Monday, finding matching socks in the clean pile, and the mental load of keeping track of it all. The laundry never stopped, and neither did the stress that came with it.

That’s when I realised: if our family was struggling with this, how many other East Gippsland families were going through the same thing?

FINDING A SOLUTION

The Lightbulb Moment

After COVID, our family made the move to Paynesville, and we absolutely love it here. We wanted to give back to the community that welcomed us – building businesses that serve our neighbours, provide real opportunities for locals, and keep profits right here in our region.

When our friend Emily decided to open Spin & Sparkle Laundromat in Bairnsdale, I kept asking her about wash, dry & fold services. Emily knew there was a market for it, but with a very young family, she was going to have her hands full with self-service laundry.

Once that was clear, I decided to use my business experience to start a service that my own family would use! If we needed it, other East Gippsland families definitely did too.

SOLVING THE STRUGGLE

Our Promise To You

We pick up your dirty laundry and return it within 48 hours, perfectly clean and folded (but we’re always pushing for next-day turnaround). Simple as that.

Whether you’re a parent at breaking point, a worker with no time left in your day, or someone caring for others – we get it. We’ve been there. We are there.

Wash Collective isn’t a franchise with head office decisions made in Melbourne or Sydney. We’re locals, creating local jobs, serving local families. Every dollar you spend with us stays in East Gippsland.

We’re here to give you your time back, so you can spend it on what truly matters.
